Is learning Django in 2026 still worth it if I already know Python, JS, and databases?

<div class="md">I&#39;ve been constantly running into this issue where ill be working for a bit making a few <a href="http://manage.py">manage.py</a> commands here n there. After a few minutes ill make another command and it&#39;ll just hang. I&#39;d leave it for a bit thinking maybe my computer is just a bit slow?? but after checking i realized it showed no activity after the command was made (as in the ide telling you yea im reading through files to run your command give me a minute) It&#39;s become a thing were i just keep having to reclone the repo to get it working for a bit?? which is very annoying :( Sometimes deleting and recreating the virtual environment works, but not always. Made a chart that shows the lines of code added/changed over time in the Flask GitHub repository

<div class="md">I continue to battle a lot of server config with a flask app. Just reaching out once again in case anyone has any ideas. The current status: Primary endpoint is a CPU intensive endpoint, taking 6 seconds to complete. Gunicorn uses Gthread worker type, 1 worker, 1 thread. This appeared to be the most performant and stable setup. I host the flask app on one of the main cloud providers, it spins up extra replicas of the app as needed. Essentially with some of the nuances of python, the GIL in particular, I don&#39;t seem to be able to support more than 1 concurrent user on a single machine. Either the response time doubles, or there is queuing behind the scenes. Threads competing for resources etc. Is there anything I&#39;m missing besides this just being a hard computation problem and the machine gets exhausted? I know the gunicorn docs say 1 worker can support thousands of users, but does that only apply if the task is lightweight? Thanks for any ideas... College Hockey Bracket Challenge

Hello, so I've been using flask for a few months now, just getting the hang of macros and templating with Jinja2. However, I have ran into a strange issue I can't seem to figure out. I’m trying to decide on the best approach for handling OCR processing, since it can be time-consuming depending on the document.  What's changed since that post
 The original version only worked as an embedded library inside a single FastAPI app with multi-instance support. If you had multiple services, you had to wire up each one separately with no shared state between them.
 That's gone now.
 Standalone shield server + SDK
 You can now run api-shield as its own server and connect any number of services to it via the SDK. One control plane for your whole fleet, toggle maintenance on a route in service A from the same dashboard that manages service B. No Redis config required unless you want it.

 Private & shared tasks with karma/XP, family calendar + RSVP, shared shopping lists, family challenges, push notifications, family notes, multi-family groups… basically a full “family hub”.

I built a family organizer app with Flutter + FastAPI — looking for feedback or a buyer

<div class="md">Three weeks like literally three weeks of this thing haunting me for every 72 hours, like clockwork, our main API service would crawl to a halt CPU would pinned at 100%, response times going from 40ms to sometimes 8 seconds, load balancer screaming, on-call rotation getting woken up at 3am. Then after about 10 to 15 minutes it would just... recover on its own totally clean. Like nothing happened and that was almost worse because it meant no crash dump, no hard failure to point at, just a mysterious window of misery every three days and then silence. The first week I was convinced it was a memory leak so I Went through every service that touched our main worker, added heap snapshots, stared at flame graphs until my eyes hurt. The second week I started suspecting our database connection pool because we&#39;d had issues there before, rewrote how we were handling idle connections, deployed it, felt cautiously optimistic. 72 hours later, at 3am, my phone went off again and I was back to square one. What made it genuinely hard to debug was that the spike was never triggered by traffic. Some of our worst spikes happened at 4am on a Sunday when the load was basically nothing so it wasn&#39;t a thundering herd problem, it wasn&#39;t a slow query under pressure, it was something internal ticking away completely independent of what users were doing and that ruled out about 80% of the usual suspects and left me staring at our job scheduling logic which I&#39;d been avoiding because it was old, messy, and written by someone who left the company two years ago. At this point I ran the service through a <a href="http://drizz.dev">testing tool</a> we had sitting around that we&#39;d been meaning to integrate properly for a while. I pointed it at the worker process and asked it to generate tests around anything that looked like it involved timing or scheduling. Within a couple hours it had flagged something in our background job runner, a timer that was being created fresh on every job cycle but never explicitly cleared when the cycle finished. The old timer didn&#39;t get garbage collected cleanly, it just sat there. Then the next cycle created another one. Then another. Every job cycle stacking a new timer on top of the last, all of them accumulating in memory and all of them eventually firing at overlapping intervals. By hour 72 the backlog of stale timers firing simultaneously was enough to pin the CPU completely. Then they&#39;d finish, the queue would drain, and everything looked normal again until the next cycle of accumulation hit the same threshold. The fix was literally one line. clearInterval in the right place at the end of the job cycle. One line of code that should have been there from the start, in a function that had probably been running broken for longer than anyone on the current team had been at the company. After that, I started working on a shelter management system, but I never really finished it. A couple weeks ago, I decided to start something new and challenge myself to at least get it to an MVP instead of abandoning it halfway. The idea came from a logistics company I worked with some years back. They deal with customers from different continents who buy from the US, and a big part of their workflow is tracking orders and keeping customers updated. I wanted to try building something that handles that kind of process. Right now, the app manages customer orders, workflow stages, and status updates. I’ve gotten email notifications working, and I’ve also tested SMS and WhatsApp integration using Twilio’s sandbox. It’s still very early and definitely not polished, especially the UI, which I know is one of my weak points. One thing I’m trying to get better at with this project is structuring things properly instead of just making it “work.” I’ve been thinking a lot about how to model workflow states cleanly in Django and how to handle background tasks for sending messages as the app grows. I deployed using Render. Instances failing at some point everytime I opened more tabs or perform a task. Had to buy more RAM.
