Best sources to learn Flask, Flask Restful API

Last week PdfDing was selected to receive a grant from the NGI Zero Commons Fund. This fund is dedicated to helping deliver, mature and scale new internet commons across the whole technology spectrum and is amongst others funded by the European Commission. The exact sum of the grant still needs to be discussed, but obviously I am very stocked to have been selected and need to share it with the community.

Make Django Admin collaborative — real-time editing, chat, and presence detection

I&#39;ve been using Django for a long while now, and honestly, I still love working with it. This project was a fun mix of Django REST, Celery, Channels, Docker, and a few other moving parts. The Project It’s a dynamic platform for hosting multiple guesser/trivia games, where players can play daily challenges or go head-to-head with friends in multiplayer mode in real time. What I’m most proud about this of is how easy it is to add new game modes and topics without needing to write a ton of extra code. Everything is built to be modular and scalable while still keeping things simple. I don’t think many people here use Nuxt, so I’ll keep it brief. Nuxt is to Vue.js what Next.js is to React. Hey everyone,
 I recently finished and deployed a decently complex Django project and thought it might be cool to share a bit about the stack, setup, and experience and open it up for any questions, feedback, or advice.
 I've been using Django for a long while now, and honestly, I still love working with it. This project was a fun mix of Django REST, Celery, Channels, Docker, and a few other moving parts.
 The Project
 It’s a dynamic platform for hosting multiple guesser/trivia games, where players can play daily challenges or go head-to-head with friends in multiplayer mode in real time.
 What I’m most proud about this of is how easy it is to add new game modes and topics without needing to write a ton of extra code. Everything is built to be modular and scalable while still keeping things simple.

Web APIs: Django REST Framework :D
 Async Tasks: Celery, django-celery-beat, django-celery-results (for background jobs: creating the daily games, scraping, handling some timers in the multiplayer game)
 WebSockets / Realtime: Django Channels, channels-redis (for multiplayer sessions)
 Databases: PostgreSQL for relational data
 Redis: Used as broker for Celery, cache, logging, and Channels layer
 Auth: django-allauth with Google and Reddit login
 API Docs: drf-spectacular
 Translations: django-modeltranslation + django-rosetta
 Health Checks: django-health-check
  
Work Environment
 I usually start my projects using Django Cookiecutter, it gives a nice foundation.
 Then I heavily customize it to fit my workflow.
 Everything runs on Docker:
 I use separate docker-compose and Dockerfiles per environment (dev/staging/prod), makes local development, CI/CD, and deployment very easy.
 Deployment
 I like keeping things simple and not over-engineered. Everything is containerized, including the databases and orchestrated with Docker Swarm on a single VPS.

 Frontend
 This is about Django. I don’t think many people here use Nuxt, so I’ll keep it brief.
 Nuxt is to Vue.js what Next.js is to React.
 I use it for the conveniences it provides and for the need for SSR on certain pages for SEO purposes.

 Honestly, my validation is a bit heavy — it’s mostly reading headers and decoding a few seconds of audio/video, and inseting the images in a another image using Pillow. I added Celery to avoid blocking Django requests, but now I’m starting to wonder if I’m just overcomplicating things:
 It introduces Redis, worker management, and debugging overhead.
 In some cases, I even end up waiting for the Celery task result anyway (using .get(timeout=8)), which defeats the async benefit.
  
Question:
 For file validation like this, would you:
  
Stick with Celery despite that I want the validation to be sequentially. 
 
Remove Celery and just run validation sequentially in Django (simpler stack)?

Does Django fetch the entire parent object when accessing a ForeignKey field from the child model?

I have enjoyed working with Django in the past and I've heard the axiom before: "the best tool to use is the one you're familiar with", so my first thought to start this backend service is Django + DRF.

<div class="md">Everything I’ve read seems to strongly discourage running Django directly without Gunicorn (or a similar WSGI server). Gunicorn comes up constantly as the go-to option. We initially had Gunicorn set up on our server alongside Nginx, but it caused several issues we couldn’t resolve in due time. QuickScale v0.60.0 - Deploy Django to Railway in 5 minutes with one command

<div class="md">I tried django-eventstream + daphne (ASGI) - it worked, but I&#39;ve lost hot-reload on server and browser. Then I tried a custom implementation with uvicorn - it worked, but browser hot reload didn&#39;t worked anymore, neither server hot reload even though I had --reload flag for uvicorn. So, I wasted a few hours saving 5 seconds of restarting server and reloading browser after each change and created a new service in Go which takes messages published by Django to redis pub/sub and sends them to frontend. How to implement Server Sent Events (SSE) in Django with WSGI

If they use django fullstack then they have to duplicate the code to provide api endpoints for handhelds like mobile. If they use it just for api to be consumed by mobile apps, then you cant just use the same api with django templates for browsers. May be someday in the future, django 7 may be, where one can use django to write an api and use the api with django templates without having to use a separate front end. Can anyone suggest a way around this? Should I be doing something smarter with versions, so that the version that the live site talks to isn&#39;t the one being snapshotted, and the snapshotted version gets an alias changed to point to it after it&#39;s been snapshotted? Hello, I have a little problem
 I'm doing an API with FastAPI on a jupyter notebook server
 I'm using a route to get informations of all patients, 
 What my code does:
 It takes a list of patients from calling the router get_patients_disponibles
 then, it makes a loop for every patient in that list that:

We are looking to test our own cafe management app (currently the MVP is built with Django and React as I am developing this alone). I am looking for POS APIs to connect to the Django backend. The key features I am looking for is: 1. Accept and Log orders to my db (Transactional Info) 2. Basic menu functionalities (add, remove, update pricing, etc.) 3. Query order data to update things like inventory, return, wastage etc., through our already existing custom workflows. 4. Query orders based on private events and/or customer orders (I can create the segments but I need a way of communicating that to the order) Firstly, I want to know if I am unnecessarily complicating this? Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, but any leads on where I can find answers would be helpful. I have briefly looked at Square, goTab(this ones a bit confusing) and the Toast API but I was not sure if I am locked in to use some fancy cloud system to unlock the actual stuff I need. As our primary goal is to create certain custom KPIs that enable the team to make better decisions and better manage inventory. I am also looking at added features of customer information, which is not imminent but the goal there is to track in-store analytics to better plan our social media campaigns and create better loyalty programs that the customers genuinely appreciate.
