Which one is easiest to start? Whenever I try frontend I just find that there is a ton of code. Many of my python files don&#39;t generally cross 1000 lines. I am able to easily break them down into components and as per requirement put them into their respective files. But for frontend devs 500 / 1000 lines seems pretty common.  I’m planning to launch a simple educational website for students in Bangladesh using Django + Wagtail. The site will mainly contain text content and explainer images, so I’m looking for very affordable hosting options that support Django deployments.
 I’ve checked PythonAnywhere, Railway, and Render. I also found Contabo VPS, which is extremely cheap, but I’m unsure about their reliability.

Oxidized Python/Django packages?

I have been through a few ideas of how it could be implemented, I need any advice or pointing me to the right direction if possible. The idea of the project is, one admin, teachers and students; students are allowed to register an account and submit a school application by filling in application documents, while the teachers aren&#39;t allowed to create an account in the traditional sense, they are allowed to apply for a teaching position by submiting a resume and other relevant information, then both teachers and students are &quot;frozen&quot; until the admin approves their application. Now for my implementation idea, a way it could maybe be done is by subclassing AbstractUser to add extra fields that i could need like profile picture, dob etc etc... Then make two extra tables one for students and another for teachers that would have a one-to-one relation with the user table, I would leverage the built-in is_active field of the user table to &quot;freeze&quot; Students and teacher once they apply and unfreeze them once they are approved, if they are rejected, keep them frozen as they would have a chance to apply again. Hi fellow Django devs.

SASS with Django

<div class="md">Curious about your thoughts/opinions/experiences. I am at a Windows shop - not a linux server to be had (which makes me sad). Docker is not an option. Currently the setup is: Apache + mod_wsgi serving everything (static/media/django) and under heavy loads - it struggles despite the server being very beefy. I&#39;m pretty certain it&#39;s because of limitations relating to mod_wsgi on Windows specifically. What I was considering was Nginx + waitress (using whitenoise for static) Windows really is the problematic piece of all this from my researching - I&#39;m looking for any/all feedback on how to make this whole process a little easier / better / less problematic. Apache requires a lot of configuration, and mod_wsgi loses all the &#39;good stuff&#39; when running it on Windows so the performance is lack luster. Waitress doesn&#39;t appear to have a lot of those limitations and works much more similar to gunicorn (unavailable on Windows) from what I can tell. I thought: nginx as a reverse proxy + waitress as the server with Whitenoise bundling up the statics might be a bit more performant and easier to manage/maintain/configure when adding new projects. Maybe I&#39;m off my rocker and I should just stick with what (poorly) works. Any thoughts / ideas? Opensource FastAPI B2B SaaS Boilerplate

<div class="md">Hey everyone, I&#39;m using React and FastAPI with authentication handled entirely by HTTP-only cookies (JS cannot read the token). I need to protect my client-side routes (e.g., /dashboard). Since I can&#39;t check localStorage, I have two main strategies to verify the user&#39;s login status and redirect them if unauthorized: The Dilemma: Checking Authentication Status <ol> <li>Dedicated /status Endpoint (The Eager Check)</li> </ol> How it Works: On app load, the AuthContext hits a protected /auth/status endpoint. The 200 or 401 response sets the global isAuthenticated state. Pros: Fast route transitions after the initial check. Cons: Requires an extra network call on every app load/refresh. <ol> <li>Direct Protected Data Fetch (The Lazy Check)</li> </ol> How it Works: Let the user land on /dashboard. The component immediately fetches its protected data (GET /api/data). If the fetch returns a 401, the component triggers a redirect to /login.  I'm using React and FastAPI with authentication handled entirely by HTTP-only cookies (JS cannot read the token).
 I need to protect my client-side routes (e.g., /dashboard). Since I can't check localStorage, I have two main strategies to verify the user's login status and redirect them if unauthorized:
 The Dilemma: Checking Authentication Status
  
Dedicated /status Endpoint (The Eager Check)
  
How it Works: On app load, the AuthContext hits a protected /auth/status endpoint. The 200 or 401 response sets the global isAuthenticated state.
 Pros: Fast route transitions after the initial check.
 Cons: Requires an extra network call on every app load/refresh.
  
Direct Protected Data Fetch (The Lazy Check)
  
How it Works: Let the user land on /dashboard. The component immediately fetches its protected data (GET /api/data). If the fetch returns a 401, the component triggers a redirect to /login.
 Pros: No extra /status endpoint needed; bundles the check with the data load.

I have a microservice with FastAPI framework, and built in asynchronous way for concurrency. We have got a serious performance issue since we put our service to production: some instances may got really high CPU usage (>90%) and never fall back. We tried to find the root cause but failed, and we have to add a alarm and kill any instance with that issue after we receive an alarm.
 Our service is deployed to AWS ECS, and I have enabled execute command so that I could connect to the container and do some debugging. I tried with py-spy and generated flame graph with suggestions from ChatGPT and Gemini. Still got no idea.

This was mainly a marketing problem, not a technical one. The solution was to split my app into two: the same backend now powers 2 different domains, each showing different content. How is this done? I use a <code>@app.before_request</code> to detect which domain the request comes from. Then I store the domain in Flask&#39;s <code>g</code> object, making it available everywhere and allowing the correct content to be displayed. <h1>🧪 Split Testing Framework</h1> A painful lesson that I had to learn is that you should not just make changes to your pricing or landing pages because you have a good feeling about it. Instead, you need to A/B test these changes. I implemented a session based testing framework, where every visitor to the app is put into a particular test bucket. Visitors in different test buckets see different content. When a visitor signs up and becomes a user, I store the test bucket they are in which means I can continue tracking their behavior. For any test, I can then look at some top level metrics, for instance number of signups or aggregated lifetime value, for each bucket to decide how to proceed. <h1>🔐 Authentication</h1> I put off implementing authentication for my app as long as possible. I think I was afraid of screwing it up. This meant it was possible to use my app for years without signing up. I even added payment despite not having auth! Then I added authentication using <code>flask-login</code> and it turned out to be fairly simple. All the FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) that exists around this topic seems to emanate from companies that want to sell you cloud-based solutions. <h1>✍️ Blog</h1> My app gets 80% of its users through SEO (Google searches), which means a blog and the ability to publish lots of content is essential. When implementing the blog, my number one requirement was to have all the content in the repo as markdown files. This was vindicated when the age of AI arrived and it turned out that rewriting and creating new markdown files is what AI does very well. I use <code>flask-flatpages</code> to render my markdown files, which works perfectly. I have added some customizations, the most notable one being the ability to include the same markdown &quot;snippet&quot; in multiple posts. <h1>⚙️ Admin pages</h1> I built my own administration frontend, despite Flask having a ready-made package. Initially I only needed the ability to reset user passwords, so learning to use a new dedicated package was overkill.  🚀 How it started
 In 2016, I started a Flask tutorial because I had an idea for a simple app. I knew a little bit about HTML and CSS but almost nothing about database driven apps. I continued building on this codebase for nine years. Now, that same app has hundreds of thousands of registered users, earns thousands of revenue per month, and has changed my life forever.
 Despite its unglamorous beginnings I never rewrote the app from scratch, I just kept on adding to it (and sometimes taking away). Whenever I faced a problem or a challenging requirement, I churned, ground and didn't give up until it was fixed. Then I moved on to the next task.

🏗️ The architecture and customizations
 OK, onto the code! Here is a top-level overview:
  
The main database is Postgres and I use Peewee as an ORM -- highly recommended and easier to learn than SQLAlchemy.
 I also use Google Firestore as a real-time database. The app writes to Firestore both from the frontend and the backend.
 The static frontend (landing pages, documentation) uses classic Jinja2 templating
 The app frontend uses Vue which is built by Vite
 A REST API allows communication between the Vue client and the backend
 The CSS framework is Bootstrap 5.
 Memcached is used for application-level caching and rate-limiting
 I use Paddle.com as my payment provider (instead of Stripe.com)
 Transactional emails (such as password reset mails) are sent via Sendgrid using the Sendgrid Python package
 Log files are forwarded to a log aggregator (Papertrail)
  
The app runs on two DigitalOcean servers (8 vCPUs, 16GB RAM each) using a blue-green deployment setup. During deployments, traffic switches between servers using a floating IP, allowing zero-downtime releases and instant rollbacks. The Postgres database (4 vCPUs, 8GB RAM) is fully managed by DigitalOcean. Nginx and Gunicorn serve the Flask app.

 What My Project Does: Parses RSS XML feed and shows it in a Hacker News Themed website.
 Target Audience: People looking for an RSS reader, other than that it's a Project I made for Midnight.
 Comparison: It offers a fully customizable Reader which has Hacker News colors by default. The layout is also like HN

i have issue where it said that my terminal is running properly but it didnt display message like
 Serving Flask app 'run.py'
 Debug mode: on

Issue to run Flask

<div class="md">I used chatgpt to create a flask file tree with blueprints. I divided up models.py into different files in flask and I getting circular import errors. Does anyone have any suggestions?
